Resolution Together is an innovative approach designed specifically for couples who are going through separation or divorce. Its method involves the appointment of a single lawyer to guide both parties, thereby promoting collaboration throughout the entire process.
It is particularly well-suited for couples who wish to reach an outcome together, fulfilling their own needs and, if applicable, the needs of their children.
This approach offers impartial legal guidance and support, ultimately resulting in reduced costs and minimised delays, all the while fostering conflict-free dispute resolution. The primary focus is on cooperative efforts, ensuring that no party emerges as a ‘winner’ at the expense of the other or the family unit.
Resolution Together offers the potential for swifter proceedings, decreased expenses and an overall more positive journey.
How does Resolution Together work?
First and foremost, suitability is paramount — this approach might not be suitable for every couple.
Recognising that separation and divorce can be emotionally taxing, our central aim is to provide a tailored, expert service that aligns with your circumstances. We commit to assisting you in achieving an outcome that suits your unique needs, recognising there is truly no one-size-fits-all solution.
The process starts with an initial interview with each party. This helps us understand your needs and gives you a chance to get to know our Family Law professionals and what the process entails. Additionally, this serves as your chance to determine if the Resolution Together approach suits your situation. If all parties are in agreement, the process formally begins with the signing of an agreement.
Further meetings are tailored to your case. Depending on the circumstances, other experts might join to offer independent advice. Transparency is key, and information sharing is a priority.
If at any point it’s clear collaborating isn’t the best way forward, your solicitor will explore alternatives. If an agreement is reached, it can be formalised and submitted to the court for approval.
Resolution Together empowers couples to devise practical solutions for their circumstances, including matters involving their children and finances. In a conventional scenario, if court attendance was required, a Judge would make these decisions.
Is this approach suitable for us?
The process of separation and divorce does not need to be acrimonious. If couples continue to share mutual care and respect, and they agree on the next steps, we highly recommend Resolution Together.
During the initial interviews, our experts will assess suitability. We need both parties to be on the same page, conflict-free and open to having just one solicitor.
If any uncertainties, trust issues or reluctance to be transparent surface, this framework may not align as the best fit. In such cases, we can suggest alternative routes, such as family mediation or collaborative law.
Throughout this process, our Family Law experts stay impartial. They’re there to guide, support and advise you as a team. They create a secure environment for open discussions, with the initial interview assessing the presence of domestic abuse and power imbalances.
